What UC means on this model

Power was interrupted or dipped while the machine was running, and the control recorded it. This one is often simply the after-effect of a power cut rather than a fault you can trace to a part.

Symptoms you will notice

• Code appears at the moment the machine starts
• Machine stops and restarts by itself, or the display resets
• Code appears during a cycle with no water or drum activity
• Several different machines in the house show odd behaviour at the same time

Common causes

The code tells you what the control detected, not which part failed. These are the causes we see most often, roughly in order of likelihood:

• Extension lead, power strip, or adaptor in use instead of a wall outlet
• Supply voltage too low, common on long extension runs or a shared circuit with a large load
• Loose or browned plug or receptacle, a common failure on old machines
• Power cut or brownout the control logged at start-up
• Machine imported or used outside the voltage range it was built for
• Internal power supply section weak rather than the utility supply

What you can safely check

These are homeowner-level checks. None of them need you to open a live electrical compartment or work on gas.

• Move the machine to a grounded wall outlet on its own circuit, with nothing else large on that circuit.
• Plug a lamp or a phone charger into the same outlet and confirm it holds steady.
• Look at the receptacle for discoloration, looseness, or a warm face. Stop using the circuit if you see either.
• Check whether the code only appeared during a power event, in which case it is a stored history code rather than a current fault.
