Check the model number on the data plate before trusting any code on this page. Several codes change shape between models: a dH can appear as F dH, r dH, or Er dH, and the letter before it tells you which compartment stopped defrosting. The fix is the same, but the compartment tells you where to look.
Fridge codes are words such as FS and rS, not numbers. An 88 on the display means the unit is working normally, not a fault.
How to read this code
LG refrigerators use two or three letters that name the subsystem directly. FF and rF are the freezer and refrigerator fans, CF is the condenser fan, dH is defrost, FS and rS are the two compartment sensors, and IF and the EID and It codes belong to the ice maker. A model may prefix the whole code with Er.
